The Four Agreements

“The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz is a book that presents four guiding principles for personal freedom and empowerment. These agreements can be directly applied to being a successful real estate agent:

  1. Be impeccable with your word: As a real estate agent, your reputation is paramount. Always be honest and transparent in your dealings with clients, colleagues, and partners. Keep your promises and commitments, and communicate clearly to avoid misunderstandings.
  2. Don’t take anything personally: In the real estate business, you have or will most likely encounter rejection, criticism, or difficult clients. Remember that these reactions often stem from the client’s own concerns or circumstances, not from any failing on your part. Stay resilient and focus on providing excellent service regardless of others’ reactions.
  3. Don’t make assumptions: When working with clients, never assume you know what they want or need without asking. Take the time to listen actively and understand their preferences, concerns, and priorities. Clear communication and avoiding assumptions can prevent misunderstandings and ensure a smoother transaction process.
  4. Always do your best: Real estate transactions can be complex and demanding, but always strive to give your best effort. Whether it’s researching properties, negotiating deals, or providing guidance to clients, approach each task with professionalism and dedication. By consistently doing your best, you’ll build a reputation as a reliable and trustworthy agent. Think about it- if you do your absolute best, that is all you can do.

Incorporating these agreements into your business, as well as in your personal life, as it can lead to greater success, stronger relationships, and a more fulfilling career.
